After giving my presentation yesterday morning (which didn't go so well!) we had a session with a trend forecasting guest speaker. His name was Philip Fimmano, he works for Edelkoort- a Paris based consulting company for trend forecasting. Basically he explained his job and what they do and then showed us one of their trend videos. As a company they make up books filled with the images and ideas that will soon be "trends." These books cost 2,000.... CRAZY. But anyways it was really interesting to see how right they were as a company about the trends and what not. They do all of their work 2 years in advance so it was pretty impressive. When they are working on these books they take so many things into consideration, stuff like politics, color, music, lifestyle choices, weather, animals, environment, and well so many other things. Their most recent book was inspired solely on birds. Lucky us, now WE have to design our own trend board... inspired by a bird. Yippeeee. But overall the presentation was awesome and I was very impressed how intuitive the people working for the company are!
